Yesterday I painted the stairwell. I’m all finished now but for a few odds and ends. As you can see, the stairs are not in yet. I painted the risers white for Jason last night and he’d already stained the treads a sort of maple color. He’s installing those this morning.
The appliance repairman adjusted a few things on the stove but didn’t think we had a gas leak anywhere. He thought perhaps it was fumes from the staining of the stair treads. He said when you turn on the oven it probably ignites the fumes and hence the sudden odor.
I finally got around to mailing the late birthday socks this morning and made this little card to send along with them.

Thanks a bundle for the good luck crane! As a breast cancer survivor, I can use all the good luck I can get these days. How thoughtful!!
P.S. How did you manage to reach the top part of the walls when painting above a staircase? This has mystified me since I’ve been meaning to paint my staircase walls for years but couldn’t figure out how to reach them.
