Don’t you just love knitting with Petticoat? I noticed on Brenda’s blog you were interested in directions for the German Round Toe. Here is a basic formula:
You would do decreases at the same points as a wedge toe – the difference is in the row placement. I knit socks on two circulars, so my decrease points are 1 st in from the edge. Knitting on dpns can change this, that is why I refer to placement the same as a wedge toe. A genernal formula is this:
Rnd 1 Dec (4 sts total – 2sts on each side of sock))
Rnd 2 Knit
Rnd 3 Knit
Rnd 4 Dec (4 sts)
Rnd 5 knit
Rnd 6 knit
Rnd 7 Dec (4 sts)
Rnd 8 knit
Repeat rnd 7 & 8 until approx half of the stitches remain, then begin to decrease every round until a total of 6-8 sts. remain. Cut yarn and pull the tail through remaining stitches. (weave on wrong side as you would any yarn tail)
This can be tweaked for personal preference, but this is the basic formula. If you wanted a longer toe, you can continue the dec 1 rnd, knit 2 rnds a little further.
Hello,
You RAOK’d me with a crane, and I received it a little over a week ago. Unfortunately, I’ve been insanely busy, and have just found some breathing room to come and say thank you..I’m sorry I’m posting on your blog, and wonderful work, by the way, but I’m at a loss for your email addy. Thank you so very much. It was beautiful, thoughtful, and creative as all get out! I miss New England this time of year…are they turnin??
