Microwave Cocoa

Cocoa_12_17_05Here’s my excellent microwave cocoa- a scant teaspoon sugar (the less sugar you use the more chocolatey it will taste), 1/2 teaspoon Ceylon cinnamon, 1 heaping tablespoon cocoa powder and about half an inch of skim milk in the bottom of your mug. I microwave on high for 30 seconds and then whisk like mad to incorporate the cocoa, stream in milk to fill the cup while continuing to whisk. Microwave on high another 2 minutes. I don’t drink coffee or black tea so this is my usual starter in the morning.  If you are using a different cinnamon you probably only want 1/4 teaspoon as it will be much stronger.

Jaywalker_wrapperI made my little sock wrapper today and popped them into the mail. I hope it’s not too warm in Arkansas for wool socks.

  1. Considering we were in the 40′s all day yesterday and that my car heater is broken, I bet I will use them alot!

  2. The sock wrapper is adorable!

  3. Oh I love your little sock wrapper. What a neat idea—one that I hadn’t thought of. That would be great to put washing instructions on for the lucky person receiving those beautiful socks. I’m sorry about your “Wildfoote”. At least the knots that I found were easily remedied. Only one thing, I woke up in the middle of the night and thought that I should have worked the ends in on the top of the foot. What’s that old saying about “hind sight”? Oh well, “knit and learn”. ;) Merry Christmas!

  4. Great sock wrapper! the socks will be well received I’m sure. Thanks for sharing your cocoa recipe…mmmm! I look forward to trying it!

  7. I absolutely hate when they do that to my yarn! it’s always at the worst time too. UGH!
your cocoa sound delish! around this time of the year i like to stick a candy cane or pepermint stick in the HOT liquid and stir it with that… YUMMMY.
    thank you for sharing!
    have a great day

  8. cuuuuute wrapper!!! love them!!

  9. Hi Julie! No, it’s not too warm in Arkansas for wool socks. I wear wool socks in Mississippi, and it’s colder in AR. Pretty socks and the wrapper is cute, too. But make sure the recipient knows you made them. They look store-bought with that wrapper!
Hope your family is enjoying this Christmas!

  10. Ah, Cocoa. We live on hot chocolate and tea in the winter. It warms us in the morning and after coming in from chores or snow play. We add a little bit of the specialty coffees to our hot cocoa.

  11. The sock wrapper is a great idea. Cocoa! yummy and perfect anytime of the day.

  12. Fun sock label! And the socks are cute, too … I’ll bet the recipient will get a lot of use out of them.
