Here’s my first attempt at an origami lilly. The directions said there are lots of folds so start off with a large piece of paper. I think I really could have used something a bit smaller, this has ended up fairly large. I couldn’t get the petals to curl nicely until I wrapped them around a pen to set the curl.
I was going to show a photo of the secret sock I’ve been knitting but I forgot to take a picture of it before I gave it away. I knit one and Carrie knit the other and then we presented them as a birthday gift. The yellow/orange/peach socks in the photo are Koigu retrorib socks. I fell in love with that colorway while I was knitting it. I’ve got more of it for myself so eventually it’ll make a reappearance here.
Saturday we stopped at the library in the afternoon and on the new books shelf I found "Baking with Julia". I slept far too late this morning to make anything complicated but I did make some buttermilk scones since Chris was home and I knew they’d disappear rapidly. There are several recipes I’d love to try in this book.

I also spent some time today sharpening my favorite knife. Knife sharpening has always seemed like a weak spot for me in the kitchen and a few years ago I bought this Chef’s Choice auto sharpener that’s really helped. I have mostly Henkel knives pro series with the exception of one ceramic knife that was a graduation gift for Jason. It’s taking me some time but I’m definitely beginning to improve though I don’t think my knives will cut through a tomato like butter just yet.

That is such a nice gift. Look how happy Debbi is… so nice to see.
Love the lilly very pretty. I need the sharpener badly. Did you order it or did you get it at local store? Every one of my Henkel’s is like using a butter knife.

My knives are atrocious at the moment, they give everything a good gumming before cutting if you can call it that. I just hope Neil doesn’t sharpen them without telling me as I’d probably lose a finger the way I’ve got used to them
Your lily looks really well done, you need a big bunch of them now!

I like the lily! That scone looks yummy! I just found a new scone recipe to try.
