Some weeks ago Jason bought 2 pair of season tickets for Sox games from a friend at the office. Yesterday was the first of the two games we have tickets for and he’d taken the day off. We got the library pass for the MFA and headed into town. I especially enjoyed the photographs of Laura McPhee taken in Idaho over a two year period. They had rearranged a lot of the galleries we’d visited often so there was a fresh perspective on old friends. I never get tired of visiting the MFA and sometimes a short visit to just a bit of it is just as nice as a longer stay. We were there a few hours and had a snack in the cafe before heading out to visit the Rose Garden in the Fens.

Although we’ve lived in the area for awhile, this is the first time I’ve visited the rose garden while it was in bloom. It’s really a stunning piece of work. It was a great day for flower pictures as it was overcast but not too dark. There was still a bit of mist on the petals and since it was so overcast it was also quite deserted so we had it all to ourselves for the most part.

When we still lived in Cambridge we’d done part of a walking tour called "The Emerald necklace" and stumbled across the Brown Sugar Cafe. This was our dinner destination yesterday and as always, they delivered a fantastic meal that we thoroughly enjoyed.

After dinner we walked over to Fenway and grabbed our seats. I knit a few rows on the sock during all the warm ups and then put it away for the game. We stayed until the end of the 7th inning when the score was 10:2 and headed home early before the worst of the traffic ensued.

You’re so lucky! Phil doesn’t let me bring my knitting to Sox games! I’m showing him your post-HAH!
What kind of food do they have at Brown Sugar Cafe? sounds good!

Oooh I’m so jealous you got tickets! I spent all yesterday searching online. You were very close to where I live (although I wasn’t home). Looks like an exciting day!

You’re bringing back memories of 2002, you know! That cafe saved us from wilting! And you got to go to a game…we only walked around the periphery of Fenway.
P.S. I’m still on blogging hiatus…

So, I’m going to be in Boston for about a week and a half, with a lot of time to explore. I know I want to go to the MFA…but any ideas about what else I can/should do?
