Orange twists socks are finally finished thanks to daily knitting while waiting at the school for the boy to come out. A few rows a day really does add up! These are my own pattern knit with size 0 DPN’s and Cherry Tree Hill African Grey yarn.

There are all sorts of lovely tomatoes in the market right now and on Saturday I brought some bright yellow ones home with me. To that I’ve added pate brisee with cayenne added as a crust and some slices of pancetta as a topping. Bake at 400 F for about an hour. I’ve got more tomatoes, pancetta and pastry dough to bake a second tart this afternoon. Yum!

Earlier this month Knitterguy posted an intriguing recipe for Jelly Apple Pie on his blog and I saved a copy to my recipe files for future use. I have to say, this is pretty much the nicest apple pie I’ve ever baked, holding it’s shape beautifully and with a lemony tart flavor. I did add some cinnamon to the apple and the crust and I used a lattice top at Daniel’s requests. I think those are the main modifications I’ve made.

Your pie looks beautiful, and the idea of lattice instead of a full top crust is great.
