Yesterday Jason took the day off and we hopped a train into town for a visit to the Museum of Fine Arts. We had lunch in the museum cafe. I had a terrific carrot and ginger soup while Jason had chowder and then we both had a plate of assorted salads.

We wandered around the museum finding old friends and new. We visited several exhibitions including Soviet textiles, SMFA traveling scholars, Paul Revere Pottery, Paris Fashion Show, and Italian Renaissance sculpture. We also took a guided tour on the art of Egypt and the classical world.

Afterward we headed to the North End for dinner at Pomodoro and cannolis at Mike’s. We shared some calamari with a delicious tomato sauce as an appetizer then Jason got veal in a lovely balsamic sauce and I got salmon with the most delicious risotto cake and lemony arugula on the side. The weather was quite warm compared with the rest of the week so I quite enjoyed a chance to get out and walk around town.

Mike’s, hands down, best cannoli in the North End. I made a systematic study when I lived there. Sounds like a lovely day!

Mmm, Pomodoro is good! I just got an email from my husband that he was in the North End today (he works right near Faneuil Hall) and that he brought me home a treat. Hmm, what might it be???
