I did start the heel at knitting but lost count at one point so I set it aside to rip back at home and try again. This heel morphs right into the foot so it takes longer to do since you end up with 32 stitches across when you’re done. You do wrap stitches but you don’t pick up those wraps and I think that’s the part I was goofing when I tried to do the toe-up socks. One side of my heel is just fine but the other has loose stitches. I think that’s the ssk side but I’ll have to make sure on the second sock and see if I can’t tighten that up somehow.

Those socks are so cool and it looks like you did a great job on the heel!

They are probably the most wonderfully fun socks I’ve seen. I don’t think I would ever have the courage to wear them other than to put them on to admire them. I’d be afraid of “hurting” them.

That heel looks great! The construction of it seems like it’s not going to work. I love little knitting tricks like that! What a cool pattern.
