Last night just as I was starting dinner there was a knock at the door. I opened it to find a large pack of neighborhood boys and the first words out of their mouths was, "we didn’t do it" followed quickly by their explanation that there was a "small" fire out back and that the police had been called. The wind was pretty steady yesterday and the flames were about as tall as the neighbor’s shed when I looked out back and had spread about 30 feet from the corner of his yard to halfway across the back of ours. I know it’s nothing compared to some of the wild fires that have been going on out west but it’s pretty alarming to look out your back window and see those flames. There are more pictures on Flickr. They are not the best photos I’ve ever taken and Daniel did some of the very blurry ones out his window- you can sort of see fuzzy yellow and orange stripes and a grey fuzzy line that is the stream of water. Our visitors stayed about an hour and made quite sure the fire was entirely out before they left. I did give Jason a call to forewarn him as he was on his way home and certainly wouldn’t be able to get into the driveway. How’s that for an exciting day?

My! Exciting, but not fun. I came by to wish you a Happy Birthday though, as I saw on Ravelry that it is your birthday today. May it be a blessed one!

Was there ever a good conversation that started with the words “We didn’t do it?” How did it start?

Wishing you a happy birthday… I’m sure there aren’t that many candles on a cake to start that kind of fire

Yikes! Do you know how it started?

Oh my. Fire is definitely interesting but kind of scarey, eh? Happy Belated Birthday! May the coming year bring you pleasant adventure.

Wow! Fire is scary. I promise not to complain about the six inches of snow we got today now that I’ve read about your fire. I’d choose snow over fire any day.
Happy Belated birthday!
