MFA Open House

010Yesterday morning we popped into Boston for a visit to the MFA which was having another free open house. (When did tickets go up to $20? Ouch. We get the museum pass which lets us in for $5 if it’s not a free day) The Japanese garden was finally open though all the blooming plants are done.

016019021We visited the Cafe and Caberet exhibit which has moved downstairs and has more artwork than I recall seeing last time. I really enjoyed another chance to see these prints.

023024025We also visited The Sower by Millet as well as The Sower by van Gogh which is here on loan from Amsterdam. After reading “Sunflowers” I found the paintings so much more interesting since the people in the portraits are now characters I know a little something about. The book is fictional but it’s written by an art historian and based in fact.

053052Afterward, we trekked over to Blue Ribbon BBQ for an excellent lunch before heading home for the afternoon. As always, a full set of photos for the diehards over on Flickr.
