Last week my Thursday night quilting class began that will continue through early November. I registered back in March (as a birthday present) but there weren’t enough folks for the class to happen and as I’d already bought my book and fabrics I asked them to hold onto my money for this fall’s version of the class. Pulling out those fabrics last week, I wasn’t quite happy with my lineup. All week long I’ve been arranging and re-arranging fat quarters trying to find a combo I like with little success. Even a new infusion of fat quarters didn’t do the trick. I was to select 5 lights, 5 darks and a center contrast. It just wasn’t happening to my satisfaction.

When I changed to orange vs. blue rather than light vs. dark I finally was able to settle on a combo I love. I bought the koi fabric several years ago in Hawaii. It was the end of a bolt so there’s only about a yard but it should be plenty for the border of my class quilt which will be lap sized. We’ll start with a log cabin block and build from there.

excellent colours! Makes me want to find a quilting class or get out something in progress.

Can’t wait to see this…it’s going to be gorgeous! I’ve been “meaning” to take a class for, oh, at least five years now. Once I get my window treatments done (I’ve had the fabric for three years…that’s NEXT on my list!)…

Wow, your quilt will be beautiful. Isn’t it funny how you can know in your mind what you want and when you add the right thing it just pulls it all together.

I LOVE your final combo -I can already tell that this is going to be a spectacular quilt!

Love the eye candy. The final combo is great. I know I’m unlikely to ever quilt, but I love watching people pick colors for it!
