All in all I think my log cabin block turned out quite well. It has a dark heart rather than the traditional red and I think the lightest blue and yellow don’t contrast very well. That 1/4-inch seam that’s not really quite 1/4-inch will take some practice but I’m measuring pretty darn close after ironing and my block is very nearly square so I’m thrilled. I *might* have been labeled a renegade and a speed demon in class. I think I just have more general sewing experience perhaps or maybe it’s just that I’m used to doing things in a very particular way (all that lab experience coming in handy) so that the method for this came very easily to me. Time will tell. Next week we’ll do a pinwheel block. Can’t wait!
