Something new squeezed into my schedule this spring is volunteering at the library a few hours a week on Wednesday mornings. They are migrating to a new cataloging system but have to pay 20 cents for each title they move over so they are doing a really massive clearing of books that haven’t been checked out in the past 5-10 years. I’ve been processing a cart or two of discard books each time I am able to go in and some interesting things have passed through my hands. Some of the books go into the library book sale and some are simply recycled. There were a few treasures this week that I had to ask after and as they were bound for the recycle bin they came home with me instead.

That would be SUCH a dangerous job for me. Already, the books have taken over the house. I even installed bookshelves over all four toilets to try to get more of them properly shelved. Deep bookcases get two layers. And there are a minimum of two bookcases per room, sometimes four. Aaach. I’ve even been through them multiple times to sort out what could be passed on. Hasn’t made much of a dent.

Very cool. I scored at the library book sale this week. Good week for books.
