Planning ahead

fat quarters for bibs and a tea cozy dogwood charm packs for the Farmer's Wife quilt

For awhile now I’ve been trying to decide what to get with my shop hop coupon. I knew I wanted to make this quilt with some charm packs I have but I needed to get the white fabric and the small contrast squares so that part of my list was easy. Madame Purl recently started talking about possibly doing a Farmer’s Wife quilt along/class. I’ve had the book for a couple months and when she started talking about it I thought it would make a good block a month type project although it’ll be more like 3 a month in order to finish up in a year. I did some guessing and thought about 10 yards total would be about right so I bought 1/4 yard of each of 40 fabrics at Cobblestone quilts which has an entire corner of fabrics in the right style for this quilt. While I was there I also found another set of charm packs I really liked and I picked up some fat quarters to use for bibs for a friend.

  1. That’s going to be an awesome quilt. Love the charm pack. The 30′s fabrics are awesome. They will make a great Farmer’s Wife book. I ordered my Farmer Wife book and will get by the store this week, so I can sign up. Can’t wait.

  2. I just bought 3 charm packs of the Moda dogwood last week… i spent yesterday sorting it into 2 quilts :)
