I did mention shopping didn’t I? On Cannery Row at Om Rhythyms I was really excited to find singing bowls. Jason and I struck each and every one to find the nicest tone. At the aquarium I picked up a nice little sea dragon print. I was also thrilled to finally have a chance to test out a Pilot Vanishing Point fountain pen which Jason urged me to get being more than a little tired of hearing about it. The lady at Bittner was great. She pulled out all the fine points until we found the one with the smoothest writing action. She also threw in some lovely royal blue Namiki ink when I said I preferred bottled ink over cartridges. A full set of photos is on Flickr here. I wasn’t brave enough to take photos at dinner last night but we had a really exceptional meal at the Plumed Horse.

Yesterday we had day two of whirlwind touring. We started off at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, wandered around Cannery row and had a fabulous dungeness crab salad. After that we drove along the coast for a lovely drive ending with Pebble Beach golf course. Uncle Jim knows all the places to stop to find seals, birds, ground squirrels and more. We came out in Carmel and had fun poking into a few of the shops there. We ended with a lovely dinner at
On Friday we flew out to San Francisco. Jason had to be in Sunnyvale for Monday and Tuesday so we made a long weekend of it and have been visiting with his Aunt Nancy and Uncle Jim. Yesterday they gave us a whirlwind tour of San Francisco complete with a cable car ride, the “crookedest” street, Coit tower, dim sum, countless views of the Golden Gate bridge, Muir Woods, the Japanese Tea Garden at Golden Gate park, and a fantastic dinner at Zarzuela’s. It was great fun!

We usually bring plenty of knitting and spinning to do over SPA weekend. This year I worked on some BFL roving from

I spent the weekend in Freeport, Maine with some of my local knitting buds. We started our trip with visits to

I also had the opportunity to hang out in the kitchen while I was visiting. We made this fabulous multi-grain bread and I made a batch of baked potato soup to go along with it.

You didn’t think I left Fancy Tiger with out making a purchase did you? I bought this cute pincushion pattern (it makes a pear, an apple, a tomato and/or a strawberry) and some fat quarters to go with it. I think the fairies will get made into yet another tea cozy. I need one for each season, surely. We also made a stop at Penzey’s where I filled my shopping list and picked up some recommended beef roast seasoning. At the end of the day I killed two birds with one stone and got a picture of us all which could also work as my 365 self-portrait since I used the timer function on the camera.

We spent a lovely day in Denver which was filled with all sorts of interesting sights. I don’t think I’d ever seen a Little Debbie truck before. The highlight of the day for me was our visit to the

The first day of our visit we spent shopping the local yarn stores, fabric shops and assorted and sundry other shops. I found the “Enchanted Sole” which has been on my wishlist for awhile. It has several fun sock patterns that I would love to knit. In the remnant bin at

Before I left I prepared lots of knitting to take along on my trip. I wound yarn and pulled patterns and selected things that would be easy to knit while we talk and visit. The brown object is a 2 by 2 ribbed cowl in handspun angora. I have no pattern but just cast on what seemed a reasonable number of stitches. I plan to knit several inches and then bind off. I hope to have enough yarn left for a hat and either mittens or gloves. The purple yarn did not materialize into anything while I was away and in fact, that project is getting dumped in favor of something new I picked up in my travels. The blue yarn is Handmaiden Casbah that will become the
