We might have skipped getting it serviced in the spring a time or two. It wasn't long at all after the repair guy's arrival that he reported a mousikin nest inside the unit. They'd chewed through the wire. Sound familiar? As in exactly the same report we got on the car a/c earlier this year? Ayep. Well, the mice have been evicted and the a/c is hunky dory again. Repair guy was even so kind as to show Jason how to turn off the breaker in the winter so that there's no warm spot to attract said mice again. I think the catnip for neighbor cats campaign has just gained even more momentum.

Jason asked for something with sea salt in. I'm not ordering new supplies until the fall so I had to go with what essential oils I had on hand and since I've just done sandalwood and lavender I went for mint this time for a change of pace. The sea salt is in rather large crystals and those don't seem to have behaved very nicely. It looks like those candles we made as kids with ice cubes to make holes when they melted. I'll give it a few days and then try it out to be sure it's okay. It does look like the soap set properly so I suspect the salt is just drawing out extra moisture.

Virtually every year I begin to sneeze in early March and have a raging sinus infection by month's end which leaves me coughing well into summer. This year I am determined to head that off as I have some fun knitting classes the first week in April that I don't want to miss. I'm being proactive and doing more nasal irrigation but I've also broken out the Claritin earlier than usual. It makes me sleepy if I take it every day but I can tolerate a few days a week and hopefully that'll be enough. I've also been admiring all the beautiful knitted pieces in "All Creatures Great and Small". This Fair Isle vest really caught my fancy and I wanted to remember it's patterning for later.

Yesterday when I left the house I took some mindless knitting with me as I was expecting some waiting about at my various appointment. This is the beginning of the ruffled and ruched scarf which was quite good company for allergy shot, a consult with the periodontist and the resulting surprise appointment later in the day when he pull the offending tooth. I'm knitting it with some Elsebeth Lavold angora that's been in the stash ever since my first visit to WEBS with Martini Knitter a few years back. The shop sample was amazingly soft and the ladies advised us to give it a wash after knitting for maximum fluffage. So the tooth is out and was indeed badly cracked but I was quite lucky in that it came out in one piece and took all of about 5 minutes once the novocaine did it's job. Now there's a 6 week wait period for the gum to heal before we begin the next step.

My morning yesterday was spent with the endodontist who performed a root canal on the offending tooth whose crown cracked in half just before Christmas. It was not fun but it certainly wasn't as bad as most folks made it out to be. This tooth has been a problem child since I was a teen and I sincerely hope it will behave better after this. The procedure went smoothly but for the discovery that I had 4 roots rather than the usual 3 for this tooth so it took a wee bit longer than expected. It's quite sore but should be better in a day or two and she did tell the truth about the temperature sensitivity being gone now. Next week we start the business with the new crown.

I seemed to be doing better but that was while the weather was warmer and drier. As soon as the damp cool returned so did the cough, in spades. Friday I was sent for a chest x-ray and called in for some breathing tests and today the doc advised I try Prilosec twice a day for 7 days to see if that helps. Fingers are crossed! It’s nice the next couple days and then cool damp returns so we’ll see what happens. Of course, it’s also about that time of year when the cough disappears on it’s own so any results will be inconclusive.
